Much like Breathe, the total minutes you spend using the app are tracked with a summary of total mindful minutes along with your heart rate.
Interestingly, Apple did not specifically call out any integration aspects of the new Mindfulness app with Fitness+ in iOS 15.
Based on the screenshot that Apple shared during a WWDC 2021 session, it appears that the Mindfulness app will have integrations into Fitness+.
A closer look into that image shows the integration between the Apple Fitness+ subscription service and the new Mindfulness app.
The new Reflect feature in Mindfulness helps you establish a meditation practice by focusing on a short, thought-provoking theme. A beautiful animation helps users visualize. This could probably open up the potential for audio-guided meditation sessions in Fitness+.
It is unclear how this new feature will work with Fitness+ in iOS 15. The Fitness+ section in iOS 15 does not show any changes. We could not find any other mindfulness mentions other than the existing ‘Mindful Cooldown’ sessions.
Most Apple competitors in the streaming fitness segment have some sort of guided meditation and mindfulness content. Fitbit’s premium subscription platform also offers its users guided sessions from Deepak Chopra.
Hopefully, there’s more here than meets the eye, and we will learn more details from Apple in the coming weeks or months.
