Xiaomi is all set to release its new smartwatch the Mi Watch Lite in US. The company obtained the FCC approval for this new product this morning.
Based on the attachments for the filing, this new product, Redmi watch lite appears to be a smartwatch as opposed to a fitness tracking band.
Interestingly, this is the second smartwatch manufacturer that is planning to launch a ‘Lite’ version for this upcoming Holiday season. Last week, we saw similar plans from a luxury wearOS smartwatch maker, MontBlanc, which runs on wearOS
The last product that the company released was the Mi Band 5 earlier this year, which has seen success in both European markets as well as the emerging economies.
Much like the Mi Band 5, the Mi Smartwatch Lite has support for tracking various activities that include close to a dozen sports modes such as yoga, elliptical, rowing machine and more.
The new Mi Lite Smartwatch leverages the optical sensors of existing Mi band technologies and offers users with 24/7 heart rate monitoring and sleep monitoring as well.
Although the Mi Band 5 offers a 7 day battery life ( between charges), it is not clear what the battery life on the Mi Smartwatch Lite is. The new Xiomi Smartwatch supports the latest Bluetooth 5.1 standards suggesting that you will be able to pair the watch easily with any mobile device and have access to your notifications and more.
The new Smartwatch also supports GFSK modulation.
Based on the appearance in the reg filing, it appears that the design of the watch is based on the older Apple Watch. The watch face is probably an AMOLED panel supporting vibrant colors and a decent resolution.
As of writing, the product is still not available at the company’s product listings site.
The original Xiaomi Smartwatch product is currently available on various sites for $160 which offers built-in GPS, NFC along with tonnes of support for various fitness monitoring. it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi prices this new ‘Mi SmartWatch Lite’ in the coming days or weeks.
We will keep you updated as we learn more. Please feel free to share the news with your other Redmi and Xiaomi fans and friends.
